Paul von Maffei
In May of 1972, I opened my first store in Branford and named it Wintersports Inc. My experience as a sales representative for Rossingol Ski Company had provided me with valuable insights in tho the specialty sporting goods business. 4 years later, I moved into our current location at 324 W Main St in Branford and changed the name to Action Sports Inc. My philosophy from the inception of Action Sports in 1976 has been to offer quality merchandise with the best selection possible, competitive pricing and an expertly trained and certified professional sales staff. i also believe that by employing certified master mechanics, coupled with the latest in technical equipment, we would be able to provide unparalleled service to our customers.

Rich got his start in mountain biking in 1986. In 1988 his love for mountain biking led him to start racing cross country mountain bikes, where he won several races. Right out of college in 1993, he applied for a summer job at Action Sports where he went on to manage Giant’s Northeast X-Country race team. In 2010 when Action Sports made the decision to partner with Giant, Rich was made the manager of the Bike Shop.
